A message from The Queen, read by the British ambassador to Washington, Sir Christopher Meyer, drew tears on 20th September 2001 at a service of remembrance in New York for the 250 British citizens still missing after last week’s terrorist attacks.

    This is such a beautiful quote. It is just so perfectly and utterly true. You hear it and think, “of course, somehow how I always knew that but of course it is: the grief isn’t just meaningless pain, it shows that the love was real, was deep, and that it continues”
